The latest Aldi stores in Seattle will open by mid-March, the chain’s chief executive said on Friday, a milestone for the company as it continues to expand its reach in the city and the country.
Aldi is in the process of opening its first stores in Los Angeles, Houston, and other locations around the country and will be opening more stores around the world in the coming months, CEO Mike Masse said in an interview with CNBC.
The Aldi chain began selling its first grocery items in June and has been expanding its offerings for several years.
Its grocery offerings include grocery items such as canned beans and rice, but the company is now targeting customers with a wider range of groceries.
Masse told CNBC the chain is currently expanding its grocery offerings in a number of locations, including in the Pacific Northwest and California.
In an interview on Friday with CNBC, Masse indicated that the chain could open more than 30 stores by mid March.
The chain will open its first two locations in Seattle, Massee said.
Masse has previously said the company plans to open 30 stores in the state in 2019.
The company will also open a second Seattle location, and Masse expects to open a third store in the region by March of next year.
